Data Scientist

We are currently seeking to fill a Data Scientist position. The position requires 5 – 15 years of prior experience as a data scientist, data analyst or architect. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in across the spectrum of data analytics work including advanced skills to query and manipulate data, data visualization, building models, statistical analysis, and scripting.  Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in making useful inferences and driving improvement actions from large data sets that are messy and not easily understood.  The candidate must exhibit polished oral and written communication skills when engaging colleagues, clients and potential clients. Strong analytical skills are a must, as interpreting, mining and summarizing data to infer meaningful conclusions is a huge part of the job function. The candidate must be self-motivated and able to function effectively with minimal direct supervision. Extending company’s data with third party sources of information when needed
Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems
Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance
Software testing and user requirement development
Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques
Data mining using state-of-the-art methods
Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner

Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers
Development of C-Level Presentations
Ability to work independently
Participation in business development activities as necessary
Great communication and teamwork skills
Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms
Experience with common data science toolkits
Experience with data visualization tools (ie. Tableau)
Proficiency in using query languages (ie. SQL, Hive, Pig)
Experience leveraging and integrating big data sources
Experience with NoSQL databases (ie. MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase)
Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
Good scripting and programming skills (ie. Python)

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
